I am writing this the 26th of January and we are about to finish the main winter camp for our men’s ProTeam. Things are looking well, really well. We have moved base from Cambrils to Altea in Spain, and have been able to enjoy some warmer temperatures and wonderful orange trees in peak season. Riders are looking good, equipment about to be where it should be and we are ready for what is next.

Two weeks ago we had our final camp in the women’s group. What a mixture of people we have found! Superb atmosphere and an unique team spirit already finding its way into the group. However, we got hit by Covid and that interrupted the «camp flow». We did not hit the panic button immediately, maybe we should have done that? Regardless of the decisions made it was an important learning experience for us.

I am glad to see the updated Covid-protocol from the UCI. In my mind they are not hitting the panic button. They are acknowledging the fact that show must go on, and they are following the development in the Europe where omikron (soon) is to be considered less dangerous with less serious disease. Uno-X supports this approach.

Invitations. Wild cards. I am not even close to getting used to see our name up there in the big races. We will have two teams lining up for some the most iconic one-day races in the world. The message is clear from the organizers – «it is based on your performances and your long-term view on your engagements». I’ve always said that we will get what we deserve. Maybe not everything in 2022, but it will come. Because we are long-term and we won’t change. Hopefully Uno-X will race Grand Tours with both teams this year.

In 2022 we expect more of ourselves. We will continue to develop at all levels of the organization and the learning curve will be in the spirit of Fibonacci. We will also expect more of our partners. This is not only a playground, it is a scene for performances at the world’s highest level. We will work with our partners to develop the equipment needed to stand-out in the peloton, because stagnating is not an option.
