The omloop of opening weeks
Fresh spring air. Nervous riders. Crowds smiling. Celebrations and disappointments. We’ve seen it all so far. I am just back from Belgium and the Opening Weekend. Rasmus and Julie made sure to position Uno-X in the top-ten’s of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. The team presentation in ‘T Kuipke was spectacular and the kick up the Muur is the best one so far this year. I love this sport and thanks to Flanders Classics for the party invitation.
We’re in the fight guys. We have five UCI-victories at the end of February and we have an extraordinary race program ahead of us. No Tour de France for the men’s (still think we deserved it), but Catalunya, Dauphine etc. are the challenges we need in 2022. We will prepare Tobias and Anthon w/ friends to perform their utmost when we have the chance.
The girls rolling in yellow and red have already made us proud. Susanne is back on the right track, Julie is showing off her road captain skills, and Anne Dorthe and Anniina are testing their potential already. Wilma is thumbs up and superhappy. The Hannah’s, Amalie, Joss and Mie will have even greater days ahead. The best thing? They act as a TEAM and will continue to do so!
The majority of riders in our teams have completed the unevitable journey of C-19. The consequences vary, but I am actually glad to be through this with riders being newly vaccinated and not deep in to the 2022 season. Each case is individual and we will monitor the situation closely in the weeks and months to come.
The first race section of 2022 tells me that we are where we want to be. A lot of stuff is not perfect and we’ve had disappointing days as well. But first and foremost we are strong enough, we have the skills and we have the mindset. Equipment and partner-wise there are still marginal gains to be found.
This is a continuous process and we will work with existing (and new partners) to develop the next generation of race equipment. Being small(er) just means that we have to act smarter. The works of Magne, Casper, Espen and the rest of our performance team will pay off. It is really about the details and we are all nice devils. We expect nothing less of our partners.
