Flow

There are ups and downs in sport. That goes without saying. We have been on the road for some years now and from a high level view we have mainly felt the upsides of climbing up the ladder in the cycling business. However, the last couple of months have been a bit more blurry. In many cases we have not performed at our best level and as a consequence the results have not been the best either. Why?

Bad luck? I don’t believe too much in bad luck. Over time it all evens out. Although we have had our share of incidents this summer/fall. The crash of Mie in Tour of Scandinavia was the hardest one to deal with. First and foremost for Mie, but also for us as a team. We’ve had broken collarbones, concussions and a broken neck. Basically at the same time. Mie is currently in rehab with neck protection 24/7 for three months. Yesterday she sent us a photo of being back on the rollers. It was magical to see.

Structure? For us it is key to act small when getting bigger. This is difficult. We will enter times where adjustments are needed to ensure that we never lose focus. I am currently evaluating and discussing day and night with key management to make sure that we stay on track with our efficient and «simple» structure. Key words: review, renew and simplify.

FLOW. Often referred to as being «in the zone». It means focus, involvement and passion. It means being 100% professional at all times when you do this for a living. It might be a bold statement, but I honestly believe we can do even better. Individually, and as a collective group of riders and staff. I’m not saying that we are not trying, I am just saying we can do better. When we find our flow it tends to eliminate bad luck. When we find our flow the structure facilitates a positive state of mind. Flow leads to performance. Flow leads to results.

Don’t forget. We’re still ranked 4th as a UCI ProTeam and we finished our first Tour de France Femmes with a 17th in the GC. We are not spending energy on the relegation system, nor point system. The message from the UCI to Uno-X is clear: «you have a great project, but not enough points at the moment». I can live with that. Because we are long-term and we have a plan.

Viktor Hovland. Casper Ruud. Karsten Warholm. Jacob Ingebrigtsen. Erling Braut Haaland. All of them world class Norwegian athletes. I would like to add Alexander Kristoff. Ranked top-15 in the world. Next year he is racing for Uno-X.

I love my job.

Now it is time to find the flow.
