From Colombia to corona
A well-prepared team went to Colombia and had the time of their lives. Torstein got 9th in the GC, and the whole team showed that we deserve to be on this level. A big thanks to the people of Colombia. You gave us the best possible start on our professional journey. We for sure hope to come back in 2021!
Volta ao Algarve was our second kick-off race and it was great to see Daniel Hoelgaard on his way back to his very high sprinting level. Andreas with a top 20 in the GC and a disfunctional radio during the ITT is also something to learn from. There is more to come.
Our final kick-off happened at Rhodes. Two UCI wins for Erlend Blikra in his debut races for Uno-X. He is fast this guy. We will show you more later.
Then the Corona came and now it’s all about riding solo and/or staying at home. After all this is just cycling, and the world has way more important tasks to solve at the moment. We fully support the current decisions taken by the UCI.
I get a lot of questions regarding layoffs due to the situation. I fully understand that this is a challenging and tough situation for teams, riders and staff all over the globe - and I hope we can meet this with flexibility and common understanding of what we want to achieve together within the community of professional cycling.
We want our riders to develop for what’s next. We want them to train and we want our staff to prepare the riders. Each rider has individual development targets closely monitored and guided by our leaders. The corona situation does not change this focus. We just have to do it on the rollers or alone out on the road. But hey, we have Zwift and Zoom. It works just fine. Hence, we want our people to go to work and then there is currently no legal ground for layoffs. We have no future guarantees on how this might change, but I hope we can come out of this situation with more motivation, strength and team spirit than ever.
Thanks for all support from sponsors, friends, competitors, the National Federation and our supporters. We will be ready when we have to be.
